Water Court Resumes

Water Court “Resumes” are published each month in all 7 Water Divisions in Colorado. The Resumes detail the water court applications filed in the prior month, and can be used by parties to monitor water rights development in their area and to assess whether they may need to file a statement of opposition to ensure that a water court application does not result in injury to existing water rights.

Water Court resumes can be accessed in two ways. First, more recent Water Court Resumes can be found on the website for each of the 7 Water Courts in Colorado and can be accessed from the following link: https://www.courts.state.co.us/Courts/Water/.

Water Court resumes can also be accessed through the Division of Water Resources’ Imaged Documents search tool available here:https://dnrweblink.state.co.us/dwr/search.aspx. To find resumes using this method you must first select “Water Court Resumes” from the drop-down menu under “Template” as shown below.

Next, narrow your search results by selecting the appropriate water division and a month and/oryear. Click “search” when you are done.

Reviewing the water resume on a monthly basis is a good habit if you are concerned about water rights development in your area.
